Artistic hope renewed;
and portray unto men
Words full welcome
with a canvas or two
A homestead, a landscape
it snowed from the north;
The world was fettered with frost;
Who can celebrate Thy praise?
That it began to grow apace,
And fill’d the land at last.
With her green shade that cover’d all,
Such is His land, To change in Scenes,
Perchance a dream and now shown upon canvas.
Sad in his soul he sitteth joyless,
Mournful in mood. He many times thinks
That no end will e’er come
All human thoughts come short,
Supreme of things;
A painting comes forth of consummate art,
To please or hold aught save the special eye,
These only with the painting can compare
